SMARTconverter MV for RAILab

Designed as a single- and multi-voltage capable auxiliary power converter for coaches, the SMARTconverter MV has found a new field of application: SMART Railway is supplying 15 single-voltage SMARTconverter MVs to Deutsche Bahn (DB) for the new track measurement vehicles, known as RAILab*. Due to its modular design, outstanding robustness and easy maintenance, the auxiliary power converter with an output of 100 kW is also suitable for these DB measuring vehicles. Series deliveries will start at the end of 2024. The SMARTconverter MV is designed for the four very different standard voltages available in Europe: 1 kV AC, 1.5 kV AC and DC, and 3 kV DC. It is available in various power classes and can be modularly configured to meet the requirements.

*RAILab is an abbreviation for "Railway Laboratory" or in German "Eisenbahnlabor". These are special measurement and test vehicles used by rail operators such as Deutsche Bahn to perform various tasks related to the inspection, maintenance and optimization of the rail network.
