Proven SMARTconverter 3 for the Bilbao Metro

As with the Mallorca metro, vehicle manufacturer CAF has ordered ten SMARTconverter 3 type 140/20 units for the electric multiple units of the Bilbao metro. The identical auxiliary power converters will be used on the lines operated by Euskotren. The deliveries will run from 2024 to 2025.

The SMARTconverter 3 has now been proving its worth on the market for ten years for underground and suburban trains as well as regional transport vehicles, scoring points for its low energy consumption, high reliability and ease of maintenance.
